Shintaro Tominaga has been appointed chief English instructor by Naomi Kaminaga, who is CEO and the owner of fun-works co., ltd. Shintaro is also a business partner with Naomi in the areas of cross-border entertainment and fun English education. Naomi has chosen him as chief English instructor for fun-works primarily due to Shintaro’s phenomenal linguistic abilities in English and Japanese. There are four basic abilities in language, which are hearing, speaking, reading and writing. Naomi has been quite satisfied with his abilities in both English and Japanese.
There is another reason why she has been attracted to him. It is that Shintaro has a lot of experiences in traveling to many countries on business, which are over 35 prefectures in Japan, South Korea, three provinces in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, East and West Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, Australia, Nigeria, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Scotland, England, Wales, Canada, Mexico and over 30 states in the US. For sure he will go to more countries even from now. Among those countries he visited, the countries where he stayed for a longer period are England, Indonesia, Germany, Singapore, and the US. In Indonesia, he stayed in the jungle of Sumatra where he picked up Indonesian language by himself. He still speaks it fluently. He visited the countries purely on business, and the main language which he used was English. Through mingling with a variety of business people on the globe, he has learned diversity in not only English but also business management methods including skills of communication, presentation and negotiation. He has analyzed his personal experiences from cross-cultural viewpoints, and made cross-cultural business management training materials which include proper use of English for Japanese business people in doing business with not only native English speaking business people but also those who use English as the key business language.
Naomi has been strongly impressed by Shintaro’s know-how. At fun-works, he utilizes live materials in teaching English to Japanese in addition to his handmade learning materials. He sometimes picks up the latest and hot articles on the Internet, and through analyzing them together with his students, he teaches important points to them. Furthermore, fun-works has an agreement with Nihon Keizai Shimbun as its agent to promote Nikkei.com, which is online English news, whereby William can use such English articles in teaching business English to his students at fun-works.
Last but not least, William’s unique point in teaching English is in his performance as an entertainer. He has acquired skills to let a variety of people enjoy doing business with him. He believes that accepting people with diverse values as they are can bring us a better chance of closing a deal, and it will be enhanced if we can make them happy with the spirit of entertainment. Naomi was an actress, and fun-works runs entertainment business in fact. So she has understood the shining value in William as an entertainer before he is a teacher. In other words, he is a cross-cultural business consultant and business English teacher from the entertainer’s standpoint.
As the company name, fun-works, says, Naomi and Shintaro provide fun English programs to Japanese who want to learn English.
